Riveiro Vows Bucs Will Triumph Over Chiefs
The Nedbank Cup semi-finals is going down at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium tomorrow, Saturday 6 May, and coach Jose Riveiro reckons that Orlando Pirates will emerge victorious.
The Buccaneers are scheduled to face off against their eternal rivals, Kaizer Chiefs; whoever wins this match will then play against the winner of the second semis on Sunday, 7 May, with Stellenbosch FC taking on Sekhukhune United.
In a recent pre-match interview, Riveiro believes that Pirates – who are unbeaten in their last nine games across all competitions – will bring home the Nedbank Cup because they want it more.
“Like the captain [Innocent Maela] has said, we have to make sure that we want it more than [Chiefs],” the 47-year-old Spaniard said. “So hopefully, we are going to do everything in our power to make sure the result is different.”
He continued: “Everything that the team was expressing on the field has made us comfortable and confident about not just this game, but the last part of the season as well. We are about to play finals and crucial games – and we feel strong, and we are in a good space.”
Will Riveiro’s men beat the Glamour Boys, or will the tides turn in Amakhosi’s favour? Tune in tomorrow to find out!
